Freshdesk Pricing Explained (2026): What the Tiers Cost, What Freddy AI Adds, and What You Pay Per Resolution
Freshdesk pricing starts at $19 per agent per month, but for any team using its AI agent, seats are the small part of the bill. Freshworks charges $49 per 100 Freddy AI Agent sessions — and a session is billed whether the AI resolves it or not.
TL;DR: Per Freshworks' pricing page, Freddy AI costs $0.49 per session regardless of outcome, so your true cost per resolution is $0.49 ÷ your resolution rate — $0.82 at 60%, $1.23 at 40%.
Methodology & sources
- Freshdesk tiers and add-ons from Freshworks' pricing page; session rules from the Freddy AI Agent session FAQ.
- Competitor rates from the live pricing pages of Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot, Salesforce, Kustomer and Aissist.io; reviewer quotes from Capterra.
- Worked examples assume one session per contact and list prices with annual billing. They are illustrations, not quotes.
- All figures verified October 2026. Disclosure: this is Aissist's blog. Aissist sells an AI agent layer that runs on top of Freshdesk and competing helpdesks.

How much does Freshdesk cost per agent in 2026?
Freshdesk costs $19, $55 or $89 per agent per month on annual billing, for the Growth, Pro and Enterprise plans respectively, according to Freshworks' pricing page. Monthly billing costs more; the page advertises a 20% saving for paying annually.
| Plan | Per agent/month, annual (Oct 2026) | What the tier unlocks | Day pass |
|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $19 | Ticketing, shared inbox, portal and knowledge base, standard reports | $2 |
| Pro | $55 | Multilingual helpdesk, custom dashboards, intelligent routing, multiple SLAs, 5,000 external collaborators; Freddy Copilot eligible | $7 |
| Enterprise | $89 | Freddy AI Insights, skill-based routing, sandbox, audit logs, IP allowlisting | $12 |
All three paid plans include the "first 500" Freddy AI Agent sessions. Read the fine print: the session FAQ calls them a one-time allowance for new customers, not a monthly one.
These are also new numbers. Drag's 2026 teardown notes this is Freshdesk's first list-price raise in five years: Growth went from $15 to $19, Pro from $49 to $55 and Enterprise from $79 to $89.
The tier gates are where teams feel it. Routing, SLAs and the AI copilot sit on Pro; sandbox and AI insights sit on Enterprise.
"Freshdesk can become costly as your team grows, since advanced features and automation are only available on higher-tier plans." — Bryan A., Freshdesk Admin, Capterra review
A seat price is a known quantity. You can count your agents, multiply, and negotiate. The next line item is the one nobody can count in advance.
What does Freddy AI add to the Freshdesk bill?
Freddy AI adds two meters: a per-agent Copilot fee and a per-session AI Agent fee. Freddy Copilot is $29 per agent per month on Pro and Enterprise. Freddy AI Agent sessions cost $49 per pack of 100 once the one-time 500 are used, per Freshworks' pricing page.
The unit is what matters. Freshworks' session FAQ defines a session as every interaction between one end user and the AI agent within a 24-hour window. Nothing in that definition depends on the customer's problem getting solved. A session that ends in "let me get you a human" costs the same $0.49 as one that closes the ticket.
| Monthly AI-handled contacts | Session packs | Freddy session cost / month | Cost per resolution at 40% / 60% / 80% resolved |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 10 | $490 | $1.23 / $0.82 / $0.61 |
| 10,000 | 100 | $4,900 | $1.23 / $0.82 / $0.61 |
| 50,000 | 500 | $24,500 | $1.23 / $0.82 / $0.61 |
The per-resolution figure doesn't improve with volume, because there is no volume discount on the published rate. It only improves with resolution rate — and Freshworks publishes no resolution rate for Freddy. Aissist's own Freshdesk comparison hit the same wall: without a published rate, a like-for-like cost per resolved ticket can't be derived from Freshworks' numbers alone.
Two operational details compound this. Unused sessions expire at the end of each billing cycle. And auto-recharge buys another pack when you drop below 50 sessions, which is convenient right up until a product incident doubles your chat volume.

On a 10-agent Pro team handling 10,000 AI contacts a month, seats are about 10% of the bill and sessions about 85%. You negotiated the 10%.
What is not in the Freshdesk sticker price?
Several costs sit outside the per-agent price, and most of them scale with usage rather than headcount. Every item below comes from Freshworks' pricing page or its session FAQ:
- Freddy Copilot: $29 per agent per month, Pro and Enterprise only.
- AI Agent sessions after the first 500: $49 per 100, expiring each billing cycle.
- Connector app tasks: $80 per 5,000 tasks, for workflows that call other systems.
- MCP actions: $15 per 1,000 actions.
- Day passes for occasional agents: $2, $7 or $12 per day by plan.
- Enterprise-only features: sandbox, audit logs and Freddy AI Insights. Testing changes safely is an $89-tier privilege.
- Monthly billing: roughly 20% above the annual rates shown.
- Not published: onboarding fees, premium support and data-retention terms do not appear on the pricing page. Ask before you sign.
"The cost can escalate quickly once you start adding advanced features, extra marketplace apps…" — Tsvetelina B., Customer Support Manager, Capterra review
There is also a failure mode worth knowing. The FAQ says that when sessions run out, conversations already with live agents get handed over — but a self-service widget simply stops working. Budget the buffer, or your bot goes quiet mid-month.
How does Freshdesk's cost per resolution compare with Zendesk, Intercom and HubSpot?
At list price, Freddy is mid-pack: cheaper than Zendesk and Intercom per resolution at a 60% resolution rate, dearer than HubSpot or Aissist.io. The difference is the billing unit. Freshworks charges for attempts; most rivals now charge for outcomes.
| Platform | AI billing unit (Oct 2026) | Published rate | AI cost at 10,000 contacts, 60% resolved |
|---|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk Freddy AI Agent | Per 24-hour session, any outcome | $0.49 per session | $4,900 (≈$0.82 per resolution) |
| Zendesk AI agents | Per automated resolution | $1.50 committed, $2.00 pay-as-you-go; 5–10 included per agent | $9,000 before allowances |
| Intercom Fin | Per outcome | From $0.99 | From $5,940 |
| HubSpot Customer Agent | Per resolved conversation | 50 credits (≈$0.50 at $0.010/credit) | ≈$3,000 before included credits |
| Aissist.io | Per resolution, capped; handoffs free | $0.20–$0.60 | ≤$3,600 |
| Salesforce Agentforce | Flex Credits | Not published | Not published |
| Kustomer | — | Quote only | Quote only |
HubSpot moved Customer Agent from $1.00 per conversation to outcome pricing in April 2026, and said why plainly:
"Outcome-based pricing removes that risk. You pay when it works, full stop." — Jon Dick, Chief Customer Officer, HubSpot
Seats differ too: Zendesk Suite Professional is $115 per agent, Intercom Advanced $85, HubSpot Service Hub Professional $90 and Salesforce Service Cloud Pro Suite $100, per their pricing pages. Freshdesk Pro at $55 is genuinely cheap — which is the argument for keeping it.
Aissist's own billing reflects a pattern we see in production: more than 40% of conversations are simple, so we meter per interaction and cap the charge at the resolution price. Easy conversations cost less; hard ones can't cost more than the cap; escalations cost nothing.
Should you re-platform or layer AI on top of Freshdesk?
For most teams, keep Freshdesk for agents and change only the AI meter. Migrating helpdesks moves your macros, routing, reporting and agent habits to save on a line item that is 10% of the bill. Swapping the AI layer attacks the 85%.
Use these rules:
- If your Freddy resolution rate is above about 80%, its effective price is near $0.61 and switching buys little. Stay.
- If it sits around 50% or below, you're paying roughly $1 per resolution for attempts. An outcome-priced layer such as Aissist on Freshdesk charges nothing for handoffs.
- If you need routing and SLAs but not Copilot, Pro at $55 is still the lowest mid-tier seat price in this comparison.
"The pricing is on the higher side, especially as you scale. It does not always provide enough additional value…" — Rakesh P., IT Analyst, Capterra review
We made the same argument about Zendesk's action credits: the platform's own actions are bundled, everything else is metered. For more options, see Freshdesk AI alternatives or compare rates side by side with the AI agent price comparison tool.
The seat price is a negotiation; the resolution rate is the bill
Freshdesk's tiers are fair, and at $55 Pro undercuts the comparable mid-tier seats from Zendesk, Intercom, HubSpot and Salesforce. The surprise is Freddy's session meter, which charges $0.49 for every attempt. Measure your actual resolution rate over a month, divide $0.49 by it, and compare that figure — not the seat price — against outcome-priced alternatives. Frequently asked questions
Does Freshdesk have a free plan in 2026?
Freshworks lists Growth ($19), Pro ($55) and Enterprise ($89) as its paid plans. Its session FAQ says free plans receive no complimentary Freddy AI Agent sessions, so AI requires a paid tier.
Are the 500 free Freddy sessions monthly?
No. Freshworks' session FAQ describes the 500 included sessions as a one-time offer for new customers. After that, sessions cost $49 per 100 and expire at the end of each billing cycle.
Does Freshdesk charge for Freddy sessions that escalate to a human?
Yes. A session covers all interactions with one user in 24 hours, regardless of outcome, so escalated and unresolved conversations are billed at the same $0.49.
How does Freshdesk pricing compare to Intercom pricing?
Freshdesk seats are cheaper: Pro is $55 per agent versus $85 for Intercom Advanced. Intercom's Fin charges from $0.99 per outcome, while Freddy charges $0.49 per session, resolved or not.
How does Freshdesk compare to Salesforce Service Cloud and Kustomer pricing?
Salesforce Service Cloud starts at $25 per user and runs to $550 for Max; Agentforce pricing isn't published on that page. Kustomer publishes no prices and quotes each deal.
Can I use a different AI agent with Freshdesk?
Yes. Freshdesk integrates with third-party AI agents, including Aissist.io, which runs on top of Freshdesk and charges $0.20–$0.60 per resolution with no charge for handoffs.
